Reading and clearing ABS fault codes
Fault codes for ABS consist of two groups of flashes. The first group indicates the faulty component and the type of fault, while the second group indicates the fault location. There is a 1.5 second interval between the two groups. To read the fault codes, follow the steps below:
If there is more than one ABS fault, the malfunction indicator will display the fault codes of the second set of flashes 4 seconds after the fault codes of the first set have been completed. All flashing codes are displayed in the same way.
To clear the fault codes, proceed as follows
Stored faults can be divided into two types: one where the fault has been rectified but the fault code remains in the ECU’s memory, and the other where a fault has occurred but there is currently no problem. For example, an intermittent wire contact may have caused a fault, but there is currently no problem. Stored faults only relate to past faults and do not require any practical repairs. After completing any repairs, it is important to clear the fault codes from the memory.
