- Start with 600 (dry) sandpaper on an electric palm/finishing sander or sanding block. Sand to a smooth finish.
- Cut 1000, 1500 & 2000 grit (wet/dry) sandpaper into 1-2″ squares. Soak them in a bowl of water. The bowl should be one you care little about.
- Sand the surface with the wet sandpaper in varying circular motions. The sandpaper will slowly lose its grit over time. Use 1000 (1st), 1500 (2nd) and 2000 (3rd) grit.
- The surface will become smoother over time. Thoroughly clean the cover/area each time it becomes clogged.
- Use a polish to finish the surface. I use “NeverDull” but any polish will work when used as directed.
- You are done. Stand back and enjoy.
NOTE:
One sheet of each type of sandpaper will more than suffice. If you can remove your valve cover & reinstall it when you are finished, it will be good for your back.
